Senior Planner, Historic Preservation - City of Jackson, MS

The City of Jackson Mississippi is hiring a Historic Preservation Planner. The position is responsible for a large number of local historic assets, multiple districts, historic preservation commission, certificate of appropriateness process, preservation ordinance enforcement, and designation of future resources.

The ideal candidate would be a self-starter with a passion for historic preservation and working with community members. Position will report to the Zoning Administrator but operates with some autonomy. This is the only historic preservation position for the city and the person selected will have a large degree of influence on the direction of our HPC and preservation programming.

The salary is expected to range from 30,000-37,700 depending on experience.

We would prefer someone with either direct experience doing historic preservation work similar to the position or with an education background in preservation. We are open to entry-level employees.
