Planner I - City Of Hattiesburg, MS

A professional position is available within the City of Hattiesburg’s Department of Urban Development, Planning Division, Hattiesburg, MS.  The City serves a population of approximately 46,000 and comprises over 53 square miles within the corporate limits.  The City is also the economic engine for the Greater Hattiesburg Area serving a population of 150,000 (MSA).

This is a technical position dealing with a wide variety of land use issues and official records under general supervision of the Planning Division Manager. 

Responsibilities include: assist the Planning Division Manager with reports related to zoning, variances, and conditional use permits for review by the Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment; provide GIS services for the department; provide information to the public regarding the public hearing process, zoning and parcel map inquiries, and guidelines for new development review; advise the public on materials and documents necessary for application to the Site & Design Review Committee, Planning Commission, Board of Adjustment, and City Council as needed.
